A university town in the pines
Sam Houston State University anchors Huntsville, and the Sam Houston National Forest surrounds it. Interstate 45 runs straight through, putting Conroe forty minutes south and The Woodlands an hour. Elkins Lake, the gated golf and lake community on the south side of town, holds some of the most established homesites in the county.
We build custom homes on acreage throughout the Huntsville area, on lots in Elkins Lake, and we take on renovations of the older homes closer in. Whether a site is inside the city or in unincorporated Walker County changes the permitting path, which we establish first.
What Building In Huntsville Involves
Permitting, utilities, and ground conditions differ from one place to the next. These are the questions we answer before design begins, so there are no surprises later.
Inside Huntsville you are on city permitting and city utilities. Outside, you are on county permitting with a well and septic. The difference is significant in both budget and schedule.
Mature loblolly pine is the reason to build here. We mark keep trees before clearing and protect root zones through construction rather than scraping the pad flat.
Sandy loam drains fast and behaves differently under a slab than clay. Geotechnical work and a real drainage plan protect the foundation and the driveway both.
